January 2011

As
today is the last day of 2010, spend a little time reviewing this year,
What stands out in your mind? What did you learn? What were some
of your favourite memories? What would you like to change and experience
in the coming year? You can prepare for your future by taking an
honest look at your past. Every situation offers opportunities for you
to learn and grow. Sometimes the most painful times inspire the greatest
changes and improvements in your life. Regret nothing about the
past months Each moment was a masterpiece. Use your memories as a catalyst
to prepare and propel you into an even more amazing future.

So a brand new year is upon us, What would you like to experience next
year? What do you want to change? If you knew everything is possible,
What would you ask for? Now is the time to invest some energy and
affirm what it is you desire. Anything you think, feel say or write
Is creating your tomorrow So choose your thoughts and words wisely.
Today, put together a list of your dreams and goals for the coming year,
Start by thinking they have already come true and start your list with
"Thank you for me receiving....."(Your dream or desire here)

Thank the Universe for the manifestation of these desires, expressing
gratitude that the answers to your prayers have already exceeded your expectations.
Release any worries or doubts you have for they will slow your manifestation
down and possibly erase it away. Have faith and trust, add in a little
patience and watch your dreams grow into something truly magical.
Affirm: I open my heart, mind and arms to receive all the good that the universe
offers me now. Love each other, Say you're sorry when you need
to, Forgive yourself and others Say Thank-You a little more often.
I look forward to connecting with you all again in 2011 Thank
you Love Nikki & Annie X

19 December 2010
Hello and
welcome to the Christmas Canine Angel newsletter!!
Where has this year gone to? It only seems like yesterday that I remember
feeling the warm sunshine on my face. Winter has set in and whilst we are
all getting ready for that one big festive day of the year, I thought I would
put my thoughts down for you all and announce my exciting plans for 2011.
Also check out why I am offering 3 lucky dog
owners a FREE 1-2-1 personal consultation in the comfort of thier own home.
Its been an amazing year in so many ways, I moved out of the city to
find a more peaceful county life for Annie and I and we can happily
say, that we are very nicely settled into our new home and surroundings.

For anyone that has moved home and business, you will know what it feels
like. Not knowing where anything is, or who anyone is, kind of leaves
you with that "starting a new school" feeling, where
you wish some nice person would take you by the hand and show you around.
I must admit after moving 23 times in my life you would think I would be
a master at it now but it still comes with its challenges. Both Annie
and I had to find our way in a new environment and start a whole new chapter in
our lives. Luckily, we both love adventure and thrive on new challenges.
We both have grown so much and are beginning to really love it here now.
We have met some wonderful people along the way. We have made new friends,
and made sure we have kept in touch with old friends too. Annie has come
on such a long way from the first time that I rescued her 2 years ago, She
has gone through an amazing transformation from an unsure, frightened,
nervous and unwell dog, that showed aggression to a balanced, calm, healthy,
happy and confident angel.
It's been such a pleasure to work with Annie and see her grow into the
fine beautiful dog that she is now. Annie has been my rock just as much as
I have been hers. We have an amazing bond now, and I just wanted to thank
her for being my best friend and for being there by my side always.
For those of you out there that do have dogs as companions, you will know
how it feels when you find that deep connection with an animal. For those
of you that don't have dogs, I can only say thank you for still reading
and passing on my news letters. Your continued support enables us to spread
our work further. So
as 2011 approaches what's in store for Canine Angel?

In today's news letter I wanted to outline the serious nature of my job.
Not
alot of people can even begin to understand what it is I do and how I help people
and their pets. To some people, I am just a fancy dog trainer and some people
have never heard of a dog psychologist and do not understand
completely what my work involves or entails. To read what my clients
have to say about my work and how it has helped them please see this link
http://www.canineangel.co.uk/Testimonials-from-Nikki-Brown-and-Canine-Angel.htm

So
I am going to share 2 stories with you today...
One is about a sad case, where If these people had known what a dog psychologist
was they might not have had to put their dog to sleep. And the other story
is about Izzy who's owners did the responsible thing and called me in
and the result was that we saved this dogs life.
Annie
goes to the vets...
One day I had to take Annie to the vets, it had been a horrible morning, she
had run off in a thunderstorm and three hours later she was returned to me by
the dog warden. She was so scared when the dog warden tried to catch her with
a catch pole that in the struggle, she cut up her leg quite badly.
As I was sat in the vets waiting room, I noticed a sad looking girl sat next to
me. I started to tell her about my awful morning, but I could sense she had
other things on her mind. I asked what she was in the vets for and she sadly
told me her dog was in with vet being put to sleep. I felt really sorry
for her and asked what was wrong with the dog expecting her to say the dog
had some life threatening disease. To my surprise she told me how her dog
was aggressive and had attacked one of her other dogs. I asked if she had
seen a dog psychologist about the dogs aggression? She looked at me and said
"A what? I never knew such things existed!" I didn't'
want to push things further as the dog was probably already receiving the
lethal injection and I felt it was too late. The
heartache of putting your dog to sleep...
The girl's mother came out in floods of tears and walked over to the reception
desk saying that's the worst thing she has ever had to do in her life.
The receptionist sympathized a little and said that will be £120 please!
I sat there watching this family, thinking how for a few extra pounds, I could
have gone and assessed their dog and offered the family some options to think
about. It is important to find the root cause of a dogs aggression, but
sadly too many people become to fearful and opt to have the dog put to sleep.
Maybe if that family had known about my services, they might still have their
dog with them today. Sadly
that dog did not find its way to me in time but plenty of others luckily have!
One case that sticks in my mind in particular is that one of a dog called Izzy
The family called me out in obvious distress as Izzy had attacked the mother in
law and bit her ear. The couple had a new baby in the house and could no longer
trust Izzy. Izzy was a rescue dog, this was her third home and she had been
with the family for 4 years.
Izzy came to this family with problems. Her main problem would be that
she would seem to have nightmares and wake from her sleep and attack her bed.
The family had bought several new beds over the years and thought that they were
handling the problem OK by trying to calm Izzy down during her bed attacks.
Izzy
attacks the mother in law..
One day after Sunday lunch, when the family were relaxing in front of the TV,
Izzy started having one of her nightmares but this time when she woke up,
she jumped onto the mother in laws lap and bit her ear. It was at this point
that the mother and her daughter decided it was too risky to have Izzy around
a new baby and ordered for the dog to be destroyed. The husband loved
this dog and felt something was really wrong with Izzy and wanted to try and
get to the bottom of it rather than have the dog destroyed. So he moved Izzy
to his parents house and called me in to assess Izzy and see what their options
were. Izzy's vet had said they didn't know what was causing the
bed attacking and nightmares so offered Izzy sedative drugs to help her calm
down. Izzy's family felt they wanted more answers than that so called
me in to asses Izzy's frightening behaviour.
My
assessment of Izzy
When I first saw Izzy it was obvious that she was over weight and had stomach
bloat and fat which was putting massive strain on her joints. I could
also see that her eyes were bloodshot, her skin dry and flaky and she had
that particular nasty dog smell about her. All signs of a wheat and grain
based diet. I could see straight away that Izzy was in much pain with
strain on her joints and was suffering with severe mouth rot and gum disease.
She didn't look well or happy and looked quite depressed. Mouth
rot hurts like hell and dogs often suffer in silence.
We
all know how grumpy we get with tooth ache, well Izzy's mouth was full of
decay. She was being fed a very high sugar and wheat diet on one of the
most popular commercial pet food brands. When I asked for a list of foods
that Izzy was being fed, I found out she was also eating human biscuits every
night for a treat on top of her daily bowl of dried wheat kibble. They were
also feeding her grapes which are highly toxic to dogs. Izzy was given dog
treats throughout the day also. Through
no fault of their own, and a lack of education...
Izzy's
diet was slowly making her ill. Izzy was in was in alot of discomfort
so I advised that we start Izzy on a new diet straight away. I advised that
the sugars, EC colours and preservatives in her commercial pet foods and human
biscuits would be adding to her mouth rot and that these added ingredients
can cause aggressive outbursts in dogs. The fact that she was biting her bed
convinced me that she was trying to gain some comfort in her mouth and communicate
that she was in some distress. I felt that Izzy was also picking up on
this stress of the new baby arriving in the house. In the dogs eyes, a new
baby means a new pack member and the pack energy changes. Often new parents
are tired and overstressed at having a new baby to cope with and this is when
the dog can take it upon its self to take over leadership of its pack.
The family wanted to know why Izzy picked the mother in law out of everyone else
to bite that day. The Mother in law had just been sitting there watching the TV.
As
I delved deeper into the background of this family...
It turns out the mother in law had always been frightened of this dog.
Dogs bite fear, they hunt down the weakest prey, the one that shows the most fear.
When there is unbalanced energy such as fear or worry in a pack then the dog
may try and correct this by using a bite. The fact that Izzy chose the mother
in law's ear to bite out of everyone in the room that day shows she picked
up on the person with the most fear. Now
I do my best to offer advice to the owners so that they are able to keep their
dogs... Small
changes can sometimes make all the difference. Once the new diet and behaviour
modification programme is put in place then remarkable improvements are
seen in a matter of hours & days and continue into the following weeks
and months.
This was one case however that I felt the dog needed a complete change of environment...
So
I suggested we set about looking for a new home for Izzy. I did not
feel the dog should be destroyed and had a chance of a normal life in another
home where Izzy's needs could be met properly. I felt that the mother
and daughter would never be able to remove their fear of Izzy and Izzy may
feel the need to attack again to try and balance the packs energy. What Izzy
needed is a stronger pack with a calm assertive pack leader. The family
were relieved to know they did not need to destroy their dog and even though
they found it really heartbreaking to find Izzy another home they knew this is
what was best for her. I
am delighted to say there is a happy ending to this story!

Izzy was found a new home up in the Scottish mountains, her new owner
was an experienced Staffy owner who had a pack of Staffies that Izzy could settle
in with. She changed Izzy's diet and used some natural treatments with
Izzy And I am pleased to say, Izzy is a different girl theses days, Happy
alive and well. Here is an email I received from
Izzy's family... “..we
transferred Izzy to a foster home near Glen Coe in Argyllshire Scotland last Friday.
She is staying with a family that is obviously very dog orientated. There
were three other dogs present including a female Staffie which should provide
some distraction for Izzy. The women is extremely conscious of diet type
and wants to modify her present one together with the skullcap and valerian
treatment. The surroundings are wild Scottish mountains, well fenced paddocks
and long walks are a part of the proposed regime. Having
said that it was an extremely black and emotional day for myself and Graham.
We have only one response as alternative to euthanasia and we feel Izzy has
chance with a family, if the problems of aggressive awakenings can be subdued.
We are keeping our fingers crossed. Thank
you so much for all your help, and professional advice Nikki, it was much
appreciated and your genuine concern for Izzy came over with all of us.
My satisfaction comes when... I
am able to able to do my job and help families and their pets find solutions
to their problems. Saving dogs lives, and saving the heartache of
an owner having to make the decision to have their beloved pet put to sleep.
That is something that no pet owner wants to face and it is something that
is very difficult to come to terms with. I wish you all happy days
with your best friends and wish that you pass this newsletter to anyone that
does not know what a dog psychologist is all about. It might just help save
another dogs life. For more case studies of dogs and their
owners I have helped through my work as a The UK Dog Whisper follow this

30 October
2010
It's November
and a special month for both Annie and I! Our birthdays fall a week
apart, mine on the 7th and Annies is on the 11th! Annie will be 6 years
old this year and she has never looked or felt better! Happy
birthday Annie!! She is a
completely different dog to when I rescued her nearly 2 years ago. How time
has flown. And how both Annie and I have grown! It just goes to show how rescue
rehabilitation can work wonders! Which brings me nicely onto our newest
member of the Canine Angel pack. Meet
Little Lilly!
As you can see from
this photo Little Lilly is a cutie!! Lilly
was in a couple of foster homes but was having problems settling in.
In one of my previous newsletters, I covered the reasons why alot of
dogs are abandoned or given up to rescue homes. Lilly's
story is like many others, the young couple who owned Lilly,
fell pregnant and decided that they could not cope with a baby and a dog so
Lilly found herself homeless. Somehow Lilly found her
way into our pack and we are helping her to work through some of her issues in
a safe environment , by showing her some rules, limitations and boundaries,
along with a healthy and nutritious diet change. Lilly
is a very high energy dog with lots of spirit and charm! She has a very quick
and sharp mind and loves to do all the normal things that Terriers like to do.
I am currently fostering Lilly but looking for the right
Forever Home for her. She needs a firm pack leader to show her the rules and
boundaries and help her find her place in the pack once again.
I am putting out a call to all you lovely
pack leaders out there..
Can you offer Lilly a forever home?

If you would like
to find out more about Little Lilly then please contact me!
Little Lilly loves tucking into Raw Meaty Bones and I would
be looking for a pack leader that is willing to keep her on this diet and
be patient with her rehabilitation.
So not long now until Christmas!! Let the festive fun begin!!
Have you found that
perfect gift for your dog loving friends yet? Here
are a couple of ideas worth thinking about. "We
all know the worst time to bring a new dog into the home is at the hectic
time of Christmas. Yet still so many dogs are given as presents each
year, only to end up abandoned because the dog does not immediately fit
in or comes with a whole host of problems."
How about buying A
Canine Angel Gift Certificate? They can be used towards the
cost of a personal 1-2-1 home consultation with myself and Annie.
Let us come and show you how to become the best natural pack leader to your dog
without the need for force or food bribery. Learn dog psychology and how to
communicate with mans best friend in his language! We will teach you all about
the correct diet and nutrition for your dog and offer some complementary
therapy too . Canine Angel Gift
Certificates range from £50 - £250 Contact me for more details
OR
how about......

Capturing
that special moment or expression of your best friend is art form that requires
a skilled and trained photographer to be able to put their subject at ease

Being
a professional photographer means that you possess state-of-the art technical
equipment to capture the best possible shot of your subject.
How
often do we try and take a photo with today's pocket digital cameras that
have built-in time delay and low lighting facilities, only to capture the

19 October 2010

Firework season is fast approaching and I wanted to write a few words about how
it can affect some cats and dogs and what we can do to minimise their stress levels
whilst we are out having fun! Some dogs and cats are fine, they
don't seem to bother much with fireworks and for others it is a time of sheer
stress and worry for both the animal and its owner. We must remember
our animals during this fun and celebratory time, remember that their senses are
more heightened and each whiz, bang and pop can be a terrifying noise for them.
So
what can we do to eliminate as much stress as possible for the animals out there?
We all like
to have party and celebrate Halloween, Bonfire night, Christmas and New Year
with fires and fireworks. Think about your neighbours animals if you don't
have any yourself, talk to your neighbours and let them know you will
be letting off fireworks and what times you plan to let them off and what
time they will stop. For your neighbour, who has a frightened animal
inside, it can be a very stressful time indeed. So please keep them informed
and reassured. If you can, go to an organised firework event in your
local town and enjoy the celebrations there. The less people having individual
firework parties, means less noise and disruption to the neighbourhood. I
don't want to be a party pooper, I love fireworks, my birthday is two days
after fireworks night and I always like to enjoy fireworks as a way to celebrate.
But last Year I changed my mind!!
Last
firework season, I became one of those pet owners who has a pet that is terrified
of the loud noises! My Annie, bless her, she has come leaps and bounds
with her fears of loud noises.. I have even got her used to the big steam trains
that go through the valley but if she hears gun shot or fireworks she starts to
hyperventilate, pant very heavily, tail tucks under and she runs for cover. We
have to remember Annie is an ex racer and would have been subject to loud noises
on the track. Last year I used some homeopathic remedies for fear of
fireworks and they seemed to really help. Annie was much calmer on the remedies
and her panting and hyperventilating ceased almost completely. I know not
to fuss around an animal when they are feeling scared, us human usually worry
and fuss around anyone that is scared, but its not what an animal needs. I
created a safe place for her to hide, gave her one of my tops to snuggle in with
and left her in peace to work through her fears. Fussing will only heighten
a fear in a dog so I found it best to turn up the volume on the TV and sing and
hum my favourite song. I wanted to show her that her pack leader was
not scared so nor should she be. Preparation
is the Key! This
year I have prepared Annie before hand. Knowing how well homeopathic remedies
worked for Annie last year, I have bought Annie her own special Bio pendant.
It is attached to her collar right now. Bio resonance is a wonderful
new way of scanning the body and its DNA for any imbalances. You can send
off your dogs hair sample and this clever little machine scans the hair to read
the DNA. The scanner is connected to a database of over 2 million different
remedies and builds a specific bio resonance remedy for your pets individual
needs. So what is
Bio resonance? Bio
resonance treatment, works at a physical, cellular level balancing the areas within
the animals body that are ‘out of balance’ and removing adverse toxins,
parasites, bacteria and viruses etc; that may have accumulated over a period of
time. The treatment serves to remove the obstacles that are preventing the
animals’ body’s natural immune system resources doing its job.
Bio resonance encourages and strengthens the body's own natural mechanisms
of recovery and restores balance to those areas of the body’s systems
that are out of balance. The
pendant works by sending the vibrations of the remedies to your pet and can be
remotely updated. It very clever stuff. Bio resonance can be used
to combat both you and your pets health and behavioural problems! I
have personally used the pendants for my own personal use and have found them
to work wonders. If you would like to read more about these pendants
please see the link below http://www.canineangel.co.uk/Services-Energy-Healing-Massage-Touch-Therapy-Nikki-Brown-and-Canine-Angel.htm

Here are my Top Tips for CHOOSINGTHE
RIGHT DOG TO BRING HOME
"Remember, we are bringing
the closest descendant to the wolf into our home and that comes
with huge responsibility!!" Nikki Brown The UK Dog Whisperer

What are the most common reasons that dogs end up in
rescue shelters? There
are a variety of different reasons why some dogs find their way into a shelter.
Some are abandoned because their owners die or move home, emigrate to another
country, or they get divorced and have to separate, maybe a new baby is coming
into the family or someone has a bad accident and cannot look after their pet
anymore. Many dogs are given away or abandoned however, because the owners loose
their job and cannot afford to look after their pets anymore. Sadly though
many are abandoned simply because the pet owner does not know how to handle a
particular behaviour or cannot afford the veterinary costs of a particular
health issue of the animal. Some dogs are retired from racing or fighting, both
sports that take their toll on the animal for pure profit by their trainers.
Some people just get bored of a particular type of dog and want another one,
just like getting the latest car.
What
are your feelings on taking a dog from a rescue shelter than from a breeder?

Whats
your advice on choosing the right dog for you and your family?
My
biggest piece of advice, when choosing a dog for you and your family is to seek
professional advice first. It is a huge responsibility taking the closest
descendant of the wolf into your home and it is a decision that should not
be taken on a whim or without much thought, as that when most problems can occur.
Before you even start to think of what breed or type of dog you want, figure out
what kind of energy you and your family are. Are you a fast paced family who
are very busy and active? Or are you more of a slow paced family who takes their
time doing things. If you are a little old lady who cant walk far, then a
Siberian Husky who needs a good three hours walking every day won't be right
for you. If you are someone that likes to go out jogging, then a small Bull
dog with short legs may not be the best choice for you either. Dogs are animals
and they work with energy. What type of energy are you? Low, middle or high?
Always choose a dog that matches your energy levels, regardless of what breed
it is. If you are not sure, then seek a professional to help you with this.
If your dog has higher energy than you, then you will always struggle to gain
pack leadership position with it. If choosing from a breeder, look for a good
reputable breeder and not a puppy farm. Natural Rearing Breeders are
becoming more and more popular nowadays. Natural rearing breeders tend to
breed their dogs as close to mother nature will allow it, where they feed the
dog and puppies raw natural food and let the mothers and queens of the pack wean
the pups. For anyone who is against vaccinating dogs, many natural rearing
breeders will not vaccinate. This is a choice that you have to make yourself,
but the resources are out there if you need them. Always insist on seeing
the parents of the dogs and visit the pups as often as you can before taking it
home.
What
are the common mistakes new pet owners make when bringing their
dogs home for the first time? One
of the most common mistakes I see new pet owners make when taking their new
rescue dog or puppy home, is that they bring it home with too much excitement
and shower it with too much affection and love straight away. It's human
to be excited and happy about your new arrival but it can be one of the most stressful
times of a dogs life, having to settle into a new pack and environment. What is
needed in this time is sensible, calm and assertive energy and action. With a
new rescue dog, take the dog for a walk around the neighbourhood before you even
enter the house. The dog will be able to learn to bond with you, check out its
new environment, gather smells and scents from the neighborhood and eliminate
its waste and scent its new territory. When introducing your new dog, to
the house and family, make sure everyone gives the dog NO eye contact or
NO verbal contact, NO fussing or chasing around. Let the dog explore
one room at a time and find out its new territory. Start putting in the rules,
limitations and boundaries straight away and only give affection when the dog
is in a calm state of mind, eg. when it is lying down. If you don't
know how to introduce a dog into the home and claim your pack leadership status
right away then, call in professional advice.
What
sort of problems can arise when a new dog or puppy is brought home?
The
main problems when taking a new dog into the home are that rules, limitations
and boundaries are not set properly and there is too much excitement. The
dog is felt sorry for or is thought upon as so cute and is given too much affection
at the wrong times which can result in new negative behaviours appearing.
It can take the dog time to bond with its new pack and learn the rules and alot
of new owners give up on their new dogs straight away. I know from my expereince
in working in shelters, I would often see a dog find a new home,
only to be returned back to the shelter within a matter of days, just because
the new owner couldn't' control the dog. Please bear in mind,
when a dog from a shelter is found a new home, then another dog comes into the
shelter to takes its place. There are too many dogs for the shelters as it
is. When someone returns a dog back to the shelter, the shelter becomes
over crowded. Resulting in the shelters resources being stretched and more problems
occuring If you have taken on a new puppy or rescue dog then it
is now your responsibility. Before blaming the dog and giving up on it
or handing it over to a rescue shelter, call in professional advice from Canine
Angel. A dog can become very stressed at being re homed time and time
again.
Rescue dog rehabilitation is my specialty.. Please give me a call before
you think about handing a dog over to the animal shelters. More often
or not a few simple things need changing that can make all the difference.

How
to use “The Slight Edge” and create a totally new feeding habit for your pet that
will improve his health and behaviour massively!!
During
the last 10 years I have been working as a dog psychologist. I am now known as
the UK’s leading expert in Canine Behaviour and many refer me as The UK Dog Whisperer.
Over the years, I have learnt a lot about how diet can play a major part in how
a dog or cats behaves. It is not much different than how we see diet affecting
our children’s or our own behaviours.
We are what we eat
as they say!
We all know that a diet consisting of too many artificial
preservatives, chemical processes, e numbers and sugars can play havoc with our
health and behaviour and it’s no different when it comes to our pets.
I think the difference is though that many pet owners out there are still not
aware of how dangerous some of the ingredients are that are contained in some
of the commercial pet foods on the market.
In every consultation with
my clients, I witness an alarming pattern emerging. When I ask the pet owners
what their dog or cat is fed on, out comes the great big sacks of dry food and
tins or packets of wet foods.
I often see the same top brands emerging
from the kitchen cupboards. Brands we have grown to know and trust.
Yet
in every case that I am called into see, the dog is hyper, showing some aggression,
and nervousness. Some cases are worse than others but in every single case I see
it’s the same thing over and over again.
I see the common brown staining
around the mouth, the brown chewed paws and more alarmingly I smell bad breath
and see cases of Mouth Rot, gum disease and tooth decay. I see sloppy feaces and
coats that are dull, flakey and itchy. These pets on the commercial pet foods
are all carrying a little too much bloated weight and their eyes are bloodshot.
Most, if not all of these dogs have suffered with skin, ear or eye allergies
at some time and have all had course of antibiotics ort steroids given to them
by the vets.
What is shocking is that most pet owners just are not aware
of these signs of ill health in their pet and it’s only when the dog starts to
misbehave that I am called in.
Our pets can’t speak the English language
are most of them are suffering in silence, trying their best to communicate in
some way to us that they are not feeling great. They chew on furniture, they
urinate in the house and they start to become aggressive towards us and other
dogs just to try and communicate that they are not feeling well.
And
what do we do in response? Most of the time we become frustrated with them and
shout at them! We give them labels as “naughty” or “aggressive” and complain that
we dont know why our pets are behaving in such a manner.
Our pets are
animals. Yet in today’s society we are trying to make them more like humans all
the time! My clients often feel guilty and say “I know it’s something I have done,
I have spolit him!”
We have become busier and busier with our lives and
are reaching for quick easy and convenient foods to feed ourselves and our pets,
but what are we really doing? How much damage are we really causing? How many
years are we knocking off our own and pets lives by living this way?
I recently read a book called “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson. It’s a great book
and one that I recommend you read. He explains how by doing the same thing every
day causes us to create habits. He explains over time we will compound results
of that habit. This is great if we are creating positive habits of say, exercising
our dog on a daily basis, the results will be a fit and healthier dog.
But what about their feeding habits? What happens if we give our dog a meal of
dry biscuit every day for a number of years? What will be the result of that habit?
On a day to day basis, we do not notice much difference at all and everything
seems to be fine with our pets. But over a number of years feeding our dogs this
way, we suddenly realise our dogs are getting ill and we don’t automatically link
it to what they are eating.
We say “Well I have fed him that for years
and he has been fine on it!”
But has he been fine on it?
What
is really going on inside of your dog when you feed him this commercial pet food
consisting of cereals and grains?
Let us take a closer look at this daily
habit most pet owners are creating for their dogs. Dry and wet tinned foods are
grain based; most dogs are very allergic to grain and cannot digest them properly.
The internal organs have to be over worked at doing their job to eliminate these
grains from the dog’s body. What about the number of preservatives sugar and
colours found in a lot of these foods? What are going to be the results to the
dog’s health and behaviour if these are given repeatedly over a period of time?
The results will be that the dog’s body will eventually reject them.
The internal organs will start to fail and the build up of toxins in the dogs
system will come out in all sorts of health problems and allergies.
This
i what mouth rot in a dog looks like
Then there is mouth rot. Every
single dog I see on the dry and wet food diet has mouth rot and gum disease. The
biscuit and wet food builds up on the teeth and never cleaned off and over time
the bacteria grows and grows and grows. The body’s immune system is weakened by
the dog not getting the right nutrient s and cannot fight of the bacteria.
I have seen puppies of 5 weeks old with the first signs of mouth rot. It starts
at a very young age on the commercial cereal based diet.
If left untreated,
what will the dog’s mouth be like in 2 or 4 or even 6 years time? How much will
your dog have suffered in silence?
There is no doubt in my mind and from
the evidence I have seen over the years that commercial pet foods are slowly poisoning
our dogs. It’s so slight, that very rarely do we even notice or make the link
of our dog’s health or behaviour to the diet it is on.
Why
should we? Our trusted pet food companies tell us that they are giving
our dogs everything they need in the sacks and tins of food. “Balanced nutritious
diet” they tell us.
How many of us actually read the ingredient labels
on our pets foods? And if we do how many of us know what the terms and labels
mean?
We just trust what is written on the front of the pack and away
we go.
Like I said before, our dogs and cats are animals. They need a
natural diet. Like they would get in the wild. Not this junk food in a sack.
Puppies
tucking into a raw meaty carcass
What if we started to create
new feeding habits for our pets? Started to feed them a raw meaty bones diet every
day? What would be the sight edge and compounding results of this new habit over
time?
Clean healthy mouths. Ripping tearing
and shredding raw meat and bone cleans and massages the animal’s mouth removing
any plaque and tartar build up, which does not let the bacteria settle and grow
in the mouth.
Strong immune systems, healthy internal organs, strong
joints and muscles. The meat and bones contain so many nutrients, minerals and
vitamins, everything your dog or cats’ needs to stay healthy.
Shiny coats,
bright eyes, clean ears and an inner glow. Dogs fed on the raw meaty bones diet
just glow and shine!
Balanced emotions Dogs
fed on the raw meaty bones diet are happy contented, well balanced and well behaved
dogs.
What other results would we see if we created this new raw feeding
habit every day?
Far less visits to the vets..
Resulting in a healthier bank balance for us. I don’t know anyone who likes to
have to pay out on vet’s fees and feel they are getting value for their money.
A better relationship with your pet. Lets face
it, we have made our dogs our slaves. We have taken the role of hunting off most
them and then put down biscuit in their bowls. If my family provided my biscuits
everyday to eat, I would soon get annoyed with them. It really important we meet
the most basic needs for our pets and provide them the best diet we can.
Feeding raw meaty bones in the back garden recreates the hunt and kill for our
pets. Something they need to do.
We can apply The Slight Edge in either
a negative or positive way. Create healthy new habits for your pets and see the
fantastic results of a happy healthy and well balanced dog! Create unhealthy habits
for your pets and the results will be an unbalanced dog and cat.

Dogs communicate by thoughts and energy rather than the
human word!

My
work as "The UK Dog Whisperer" is a fascinating job that I love. I get enormous
amount of satisfaction in helping dog owners all over the world find solutions
to their pet's health and behavioural problems using natural techniques and methods
that get immediate and long lasting results. In
the 10 years I have been doing this wonderful job, I have come across every case
imaginable. Some cases I have dealt with have been rather shocking and upsetting
and others have been fairly mild and easy to understand in comparison. Most
of us pet owners are doing the best job we can with the Information that is fed
to us by our vets, by our pet food and drug companies. Most of us read books,
search the internet, talk with our vets, listen to our friends and family to get
the right advice when it comes to the best we can offer our pets. However,
most of us are still finding that we have many unanswered questions to why our
pets are behaving as they are or what has caused the shocking ill health our pets
seem to suffering these days and we are left feeling confused about what to do
for the best. I
am usually called out by my clients when things have reached breaking point and
the relationship between them and their pet has broken down to the point where
if something does not change, then the dog will have to find another home. I often
walk into a family or pack that has underlying feelings of worry, anxiety, anger,
sadness and frustration. My
clients have lost their confidence and maybe become fearful that they just are
not doing the best for their pets and feel frustrated because they don't know
why. I often hear my clients say "I know it's something I am not doing right but
I haven't got a clue what it is" I
have spent years studying both human and dog psychology and have learnt how to
be able to read both human and animal body language.
I witness all the time how we often read each others signals wrongly and
end up becoming frustrated and angry because we can't get the response we want
from our animals when we need to. I
think our dogs and cats have done a marvellous job in trying to understand us
humans and the loyalty, love and compassion they show towards us is truly amazing.
They have learnt our language so well and yet we still misunderstand their language
so much and often misunderstand what it is they are trying to tell us. It's
really common that us humans humanise our animals and think they are behaving
in human like ways when really they are not. For
example when a dog jumps up on your lap we often think this is because they are
being affectionate when really they are claiming us as theirs and see us as the
lower rank in their pack. It seems ok when a small dog jumps on our lap but what
if a larger breed tries to do the sameâ?¦ our space suddenly feels invaded and
we don't want the dog's so called affection and tell him or her to get off. My
work is about educating dog owners on what a dog is thinking and why it behaves
in the manner it does. I translate what the dog is really saying in any given
situation and help dog owners to understand what the dogs needs really are. I
teach dog owners how to communicate with dogs in their language so they can find
solutions and overcome both health and behavioural problems they may be having.
My
methods are totally positive and I do not use any force, aggression, bully tactics
gismos, gadgets, of food rewards to get your dog to respond to you. I teach the
dog to respect its pack leader or owner so that it will respond through mutual
respect and understanding. I believe that each and every one of us has everything
we need inside of our selves in order to communicate with our pet friends. It's
just about knowing how to tap into that
knowledge we all have. The
methods I teach helps dog owners to remove their negative emotions around the
dog and regain a sense of confidence and control through positive interaction
with their dog. Dogs
are animals and respond to energy, they do not use words to communicate like we
do, yet I see dog owners everywhere giving their dogs verbal commands or instructions.
Dogs do not understand our human language; they actually work with our thoughts
and our energy and once we understand this we are well on our way to having a
happy and fulfilling relationship with our pets. If
we have negative thoughts then it will produce low energy and your dog will respond
to this in a negative way also. Many of
the clients I see have become fearful in one way or another, it might be that
their dog has bitten someone or another dog, it might be that they have run off
for hours when off the lead, or they worry that the dog will suffer when they
are left in the house on their own. This results in the trust between human and
animal being broken which leads to further negative emotions of anxiety, which
in turn just makes the problem worse and then the frustration and anger sets in.
Fear
comes from not understanding something properly. Therefore I show the owners how
to regain their confidence back, by teaching them all they need to know in how
to really fulfil their dog's needs in today's modern society so a balanced and
healthy relationship may flourish. If
you want to learn more about how to talk to animals in a language they understand,
contact me today and I will be happy to help. Canine

12 January 2010What is in my pet food? A good question - but not one
that most pet food companies are willing to answer honestly!

After
doing extensive research into our pets foods available today, It is rather shocking
at what actually goes into this "rubbish" and whats even more shocking is the
pet food manufactures do not have to legally list what is exactly in our pets
food and use general terms to hide a whole number of nasties that find their way
into their foods.
Not only have I seen the health problems that dried
and tinned food can produced but as a dog psychologist, I have been studying how
these foods are closely linked to the most of the behavioural problems we see
in our pets today!
Here is a quick reference guide to tell you what
the pet food manufactures won't...
MEAT AND ANIMAL DERIVATIVES A
general term for animal proteins which avoid having to specify where the meat
comes from. It can be any part of the animal and It usually is the cheapest
like chicken feet and heads. You may see quantities of meat like chicken
4% or lamb 14% Considering our dogs and cats are mainly carnivores then we
should be feeding them good quality meat that contains all the good nutrients
and feeding them more like 80% meat and bone!
DERIVATIVES OF VEGETABLE
ORIGIN Sounds unpleasant, well it is! Another loose term used to disguise
all manner of hidden ingredients such as rotting vegetable residues and even charcoal!
EC
PERMITTED ADDITIVES This term hides a list of over 4,000 chemicals, many
of which have been banned from human foods due to serious health concerns, including
(E110 Sunshine yellow) and (E102 Tartrazine) these chemicals can cause a whole
host of health concerns in our animals, ranging from Cancers, skin complaints,
artheritus, heart disease, blood disease, allergies, and nervous, hyper and aggressive
behaviours.
LOW QUALITY PROTEINS Cheap protein sources such as
soya are used instead of meat in many pet foods. They are hard to digest and much less
suitable than real meat proteins.
VARIOUS SUGARS These
are a whole host of chemically produced sweeteners that will make the taste of
the food nicer to the animals. With such low quality ingredients in most pet foods
sugar is added so the animal will become addicted to it. Sugars are the biggest
cause of hyper and aggressive behaviour in our animals and should be avoided at
all costs. Not to metion mouth rot and tooth decay.
CEREALS Cereals
can be wheat and gluten put in only as a cheap filler to these pet foods. Wheat
and gluten can cause stomach bloat , digestion and bowel problems, along with
skin allergies and ear and eye complaints.
So its easy to understand
why pet food manufacturers are reluctant to come clean when you consider some
of the ingredients they use.
Always check your pet food labels, treats
contain very high amounts of the wrong fats and sugars and are causing all sorts
of health problems within our animals.
Look into feeding your dog more
natural diets of raw meat and fish and please don't forgot to keep marrow bone
in their diet! Its highly essential part of their diet that pet food manufactures
have taken out!
Do not cook the bones as they dry and splinter and
can gt stuck. Raw bones are fine as long as they are the right size for your dogs/cats
mouth.

30 December 2009The dangers of vaccinating your pets
 This
is a subject that is very dear to my heart, so I am currently doing a large amount
of study and research into it.
We are told by our "trusted vet" that
we must give our pets their vaccinations to protect them from a whole host of
disease. We give our new puppies their vaccinations and then we give them
their boosters every year.. We believe we are in deed protecting them but, what
if, in fact we are doing the opposite and these vaccines are actually causing
the ill health we are seeing more and more frequently in our pets?
What
happens if these vaccines are actually damaging our pets health instead of trying
to save them? What happens if our vets only believe what the big pharmaceutical
companies are telling them and they don't really know what side effects these
drugs are causing in our pets?
What if the vets actually do know that
these vaccines in fact can be causing further disease in the body but know that
they will make more money on us returning our pets for further treatment with
them?
These are all questions I have been asking my self and others
to find out what is really going on.
This study is not new study, I
am not the first to look at it, there are many studies and articles written by
the homeopathic vets and doctors out there that are proving that vaccines really
are causing further damage to our pets and to us.
Do any of us really
know whats in these vaccines and do we know what they are doing to our pets once
they are injected into their systems? We trust our vets have studied and
know exactly whats going on with these drugs but most of them are educated by
the pharmaceutical company reps and don't know any further. Alot of what
I have read is shocking really. Most of these vaccines have not been given proper
trials to see what the side efects are before they are released onto the market
and injected into us and our animals!
I have heard, read and come across
my own clients that have had their pets vaccinated and then some other illness
has appeared hours, days, weeks or months later. They might ask their vet
if the illness is vaccine related but most vets will say No. Some of the
most common illnesses that have appeared after vaccines have been given ar cancer,
epilepsy, skin, eye and ear allergies, atheritus, blood disease not to mention
brain disfunction and behavioural disorders!
I would like to hear from
anyone reading this if they have had a pet vaccinated and then found other health
problems going on after the vaccine.
Take a look at this site I found
today, Have a read through, its fascinating reading. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/k9health/wwwchc/PetVaccination.html
Read
the stories of other pet owners who have learnt not to give thier pet vaccines
as they have had the heart brake of loosing a pet or having to watch the pet go
through horrendous illness because of the vaccines their vet suggested.
I
know my beliefs on the whole vaccine argument out there... I will not be vaccinating
my dog or myself against any disease. I am a firm believer that if you have a
very strong and healthy immune system you can fight any disease that enters the
body. A strong healthy immune system comes from eating the right foods, getting
the right sort of exercise and making sure you stay relaxed.
As you
know by now I suggest raw feeding to our pets which is the best medicine available
today and will keep the dogs immune system very strong. What if though we raw
feed our dogs and then vaccinate them and we still find our dogs are suffering
with illness that the vets will put down to breeding? Have you ever noticed
that when you go to the vets they will blame the illness on the breeding. They
will say "oh its typical for cocker spaniels to suffer with ear complaints"....
and we believe them.
What if actually the ear problems are caused by
the annual booster your dog has just had! Or the fact that the dog is on a poor
diet and has just been vaccinated?
Are we unwittingly making our pets
poorly or killing them because we are not getting the right information given
to us by our trusted professionals?
I would love to hear your thoughts
on this matter.
I shall be writing more about vaccines in future blogs
and educating others that there is a more natural way to keep your pet alive and
happy for longer without having to have the expense of numerous vet bills and
maybe early death of your beloved best friend.
Always giving you and
your dog a helping hand

8 December 2009I am so grateful to everyone that has helped me along
the way! Today
is a fantastic day for Canine Angel!
My dream website is finally a
reality and I am over the moon and so happy with it! It is here it is live and
it is on the world wide web... who knows what possibilities and opportunities
it will bring?
Putting this website together has made me realise just
how far I have come from those first steps I took 10 years ago on this incredible
journey! This website has been created from scratch and has had passion,
magic, love, dedication and imagination put into it. What you put in you
get out so I am looking forward to the magic that it will bring into the lives
of so many people and their pets.
Every single dog I meet on this
journey has given me enormous pleasure and a warm feeling in my heart! Every single
dog I have met along the way has taught me something new and remains etched in
my memory forever. I have included as many pictures of the dogs I have met
or worked with over the years on this website. Each one tells its own story and
each one found its way to me for a reason.
This job is not just about
the wonderful dogs I meet along the way but the wonderful people that have surrounded
these dogs, whether they have owned them, or worked with them or known someone
with a dog that needs help, they all have given tremendous support and love along
the way. The bond between human and dog is a precious one, something that needs
to be nurtured and not taken for granted. Our dogs are special to us, really special
to us and they give us so much unconditional love. They teach us to live in the
moment and to just let things go.. to flow with life and not to take everything
so seriously! They are indeed our best friends.
Talking of best friends,
I want to take this opportunity to thank some very special people that have helped
me along the way... they have all been part of this journey and all helped me
in someway to make this dream a reality! They are true friends of mine and I want
to dedicate this part of my journey to them and say a huge thank you for the part
they have played in my life so far.
Firstly i have to thank my mum!
She finally gave in to my constant pleas of wanting a dog and let me keep Jake
when he came into my life and little did she know then that this was the start
of my incredible journey! She has also been my finest teacher at teaching me the
natural way of life and to never give up and keep believing in my dreams!
Thank
you to my dear older brother, Dylan, for always believing in me and encouraging
me to take the courageous steps i needed to take to keep this dream alive! He
taught me to stand up and be counted and to fight for what i wanted. He toughened
me up but reminded me to stay soft and gentle.
Thank you to Kevin Mitchell
from Kevin Mitchell photography, my very dear friend who was by my side at the
beginning of this journey, who supported me as I went through my study and training,
who gave me the opportunity to travel to America where I learnt the most about
myself, life and dogs. I thank him for still being part of my journey an for always
believing in me and my dream and for never giving up on me.
Thank you
next to Kevin Raison from Kickstartbootcamp who I met me at a point in my life
where i had lost sight of my dream. He coached me and pushed me passed my limits
and taught me i could achieve more than what i thought was possible! He gave me
the gift of self belief again and helped me to re kindle my inner flame and passion.
He passed me the tools I needed to get me going again and has always offered his
unconditional support.
I also have him to thank for introducing me
to Antony Lawrence from Business Recall, the one and only genius web designer
who has worked with me on this amazing project! He was the one that helped me
to make my dream website a reality! I am his number one fan and it has been the
most pleasurable journey to work with him on this amazing project. He has injected
the magic and sparkle into the Canine Angel branding and made my dream come alive!
His talent is so special!
I want to thank Jake Hemming from Mach One
for the amazing amount of kindness and support he has given me throughout me setting
up this business, not only was he the genius who created the Canine Angel brand
but he has helped me overcome some major business challenges and helped me out
on many occasions!
I want to thank Heidi Webster my accountant for
her amazing accountancy and financial skills, her help has been invaluable!
I
want to thank my partner Roger Meacock from Natural Healing Solutions for having
patience with me, for listening to me and for believing in me. His continued love
and support means the world to me.
And then there is my special girl
Annie. Thank you Annie for being my best friend and for being by my side throughout
it all. You are always there with your wagging tail, so pleased to see me, our
daily walks together are precious time spent together and you have taught me the
most from any dog I have met.
There are so many other wonderful people
that i met on the way and i want to thank them all too! Each person that has given
me business advice, or taken their time with me, given me a shoulder to lean on
or a helping hand when times get tough... thank you all of you!
Thank
you to my clients, the wonderful people I meet that want to help their dogs lead
a better life. I thank you for putting your trust in me and for taking the time
to listen and to act.
I am living my dream, my passion in life is to
help others and help the little ones on this planet. We can all do our little
bit and make a huge difference to this world. Mother nature works with me
as much I work with her and I thank her for her teachings too.
Its
a good day today!
My message to anyone reading this, is to be thankful
and grateful for what you have in your life right now... Never give up on your
dreams, believe you can do it and go and make it happen. You can do it! You know
you can!!

by Canine Angel : 23:58 So
what is the best diet for your dog?

Being
a dog psychologist, it is my job to go and visit so called misbehaved or badly
behaved dogs in their homes. It is my job to asses what is causing this behaviour
and find a solution to the problems that dog owners are facing today. Over
the years of visiting clients and dogs in their homes, I started to observe a
familiar pattern forming, I was witnessing a very obvious link with what these
dogs were being fed on to the behaviour they were showing.
A shocking
98% of the dogs that i am called out to see for general hyperactivity or severe
aggression towards other dogs or people were being fed on the number one Brand
for Dog food in the UK,
Bakers Complete made by Purina.
Other
Well known brands are causing the same problems but Bakers has got to be the worst
i have come across yet!
On
seeing this pattern emerging in my consultations, i wanted to investigate further
so began my study into the pet food industry. These
pet food manufactures are claiming on their brightly coloured packets "complete
dog food! and "Healthy balanced diet!" On
closer inspection of the ingredients going into these dried, produced foods I
was beginning to find out what really goes into them. Cereals
is the main ingredient, its first on the list and most of these kibble or biscuit
foods contain high levels of wheat, maize or gluten. They are only added
as cheap fillers and do not give your dog the correct nutrition they need to successful
get through the day. Dogs
do not need wheat, maize or gluten in their diets, In fact it can really upset
their systems and cause a whole host of skin complaints and allergies. Gluten
puts a GLUEY like substance in the stomach lining which doesn't allow any nutrients
to be absorbedâ?¦ Not that there is any nutrition of any value in most of these
foods anyway. Wheat
and cereals also cause bloat in the gut.. With so many over weight dogs out there
if they just came off the cereals we would see a much leaner healthier dog. lets
take a look at some of the loose terms these pet food manufactures use today to
hide a whole host of nasty stuff being used in the foods. Meat
and Animal derivatives (4% chicken or maybe lamb) 4% !!!!!!! How on earth is a
dog supposed to survive on 4% meat? How
is your animal supposed to function properly on 4% meat? And
lets face it the pet food manufactures use human waste to put into their pet foods,
so we know its not good wholesome chicken, we are talking the leftovers that are
not fit for human consumption like the feet and heads. Vegetable
derivatives: This is not nice vegetables as we would like to imagine, its vegetable
residue or even charcoal, sawdust or ash.. Who
in their right minds would give their dogs rubbish like that if they actually
knew? Now
comes the real nasties that these dry and tinned pet food manufactures throw into
our dogs food E
numbers, Colours and preservatives, EC
preservatives are made up of a range of 4000 different chemicals!! Which
ones are in your dogs food? Who knows? These
are all added by the pet food manufactures for their own benefit not the health
of your dog. They want their product to sell so they can make billions of pounds
profit..They stick a load of colours into the food so it looks appealing to their
buyers which are human.. The
EC preservatives are added in there to keep the product on the shelf for a long
time... enough time to sell it through and make mountains more profit. These
EC Preservatives are toxic to our dog and are upsetting the natural balance of
your animal, these ingredients do not agree with our dogs health or behaviour. Man
has messed about with the breeding of dogs and alot of disease in dogs is blamed
on the breeding programmes, which to some extent is very true but what about these
chemicals we are now adding to this problem. Lets face it, alot of health concerns
these days are caused by adding to much toxicity to the body! Various
Sugars.. This is another loose term you will see in your dogs food and treats. Why
an earth does a dog need sugar?? it doesn't! Sugar
is causing not just aggressive and hyper behaviours in our animals but more worryingly
sugar is massively contributing to severe mouth rot. Yes good old tooth decay.
Mouth
rot is the most common problem vets see in their surgerie.. what re they
doing to combat this problem?? Creating more products that they can sell
such as pet toothbrushes and toothpaste, tooth decay tablets.. you name it they
have created a product to help alleviate the problem. How absurd is that?
Have you ever tried brushing a cats teeth or a dog that is aggressive? In the
wild animals don't need dentists and don't need toothbrushes.. they tear meat
off the bone and that cleans their teeth. They are not subject to artificial
sugars either. So
why are most vets not telling us to feed our dogs and cats raw met on the bone.
?? well they wouldn't make any money from that would they!! In
the meantime though what about our dogs health and suffering? Max cant tell
us when he has a tooth ache so to get our attention he might mouth or bite us,
only to get told off or told to go away. The mouth rot then gets worse and
the toxins have nowhere else to go other than to go back into Max's body, causing
a complete imbalance in the bodies immune system and a whole host of disease can
then show up in the body. Look
at an animal that has some major disease and look in his mouth. The mouth is a
sign of what is going on in the body. You can bet there will be signs of mouth
rot! Costly
vet bills are on the increase and why? Because of the diet we are feeding
to our dogs.. simple as that All this rubbish that is in these dried and
tinned foods is criminal really. Now
even the vets will tell you that their dried food is the best diet, its been scientifically
formulated for complete diet and nutrition for your pet.. But
my question is why do you need to scientifically produce food for dogs when they
are simply animals and simply carnivores? Why
do we need to spend £45 upwards on a bag of food that we don't really know what
has gone into it? We
trust our vets know what they are talking about but what if the information they
have been taught is wrong? What
if they know this food will eventually cause some disease in your dog and they
know you will head straight to them for treatment for these diseases, thus them
making more money by selling you drugs that the pharmaceutical companies have
sold to them. These
drugs often cause a whole host of nasty side effects, and weaken the immune system
further thus creating more disease somewhere else in the body How
many dogs and cats are on Metacam? drug pain relief when all they really need
is a natural diet. Breeding is blamed for alot of today's diseases in dogs but
what if its actually just the diet?? Its
crazy!!! Isn't
prevention better than the cure.. wont Max be happier if he never got the disease
in the first place or didn't feel so rubbish on the diet he is being fed on that
he has to get aggressive towards you just to try and reach out to you to get you
to understand? Won't
your bank balance look more healthy with out horrendous vet bills that could have
been avoided if only someone had explained what these so called complete foods
actually contain! Won't
you be happier to see you dog out live a junk food fed dog? I
have had two cases in the last week of dog owners ringing me up and saying their
dog has been diagnosed with epilepsy and is having fitsâ?¦ when i asked both owners
what they were feeding their dogs ( i already knew the answer!!) both owners said
to me Bakers Complete! Is that not proof enough that these added sugars and
chemicals are producing imbalances in our dogs and causing fits.. The vets
had said to both owners that the dogs would need to go on monthly medication for
12 months costing £55 a month! I said take your dog off Bakers and feed
it a raw diet. Much cheaper and your dogs epilepsy will completely disappear!
So that
is the Answer.. The best diet to feed you carnivore pet is Meat and Bone! Simple
really .. nothing new, its what animals have been doing for years. Its us that
is messing around with them. Dogs
are carnivores.. Vets will argue this point and say they are omnivores and they
need vegetables in their diet.. Whilst dogs can and do eat a little vegetable
in their diet, they are far more carnivore than omnivore and could live totally
without vegetable in their diets! On
the other hand, dogs will and are suffering terribly because we have removed their
natural diet away from them and taken most of the meat and bone out of their diets.
Some
of these pet food contain as little as 4% meat (what is all that about! it horrifies
me to think we have cut out the main thing out of our dogs diets and replaced
it with rubbish that the dogs does NOT need or really want!! ) I
had another case of dog being sick 6 times every journey and the vets had tried
medication but had no success. a simple change of diet onto raw meat and the dog
stopped being sick completely! It
does not take a genius to work out really! Anyone
who knows me by now, knows i work with the natural instincts and behaviours of
our fellow pack friends the dogs. Our dogs are still far more in tune with
nature than their fellow human friends.. Back
in the ice age when we first domesticated the wolf, we bought the wolf cubs into
our camps so to help us catch prey and keep our packs safe from intruders and
to keep us warm in the cold nights. Today
we still like our dogs to keep us warm and to warn of us potential danger to our
homes but we have taken the job of hunting prey off of them. Country dogs
still might go out and hunt but most city and town dogs do not. We
go to Tescos and bring home a sack of food for them and put it in their bowlâ?¦ The
dogs use their front teeth when feeding from a bowl.. there is no chewing or jaw
action going on.. It just slides down unnoticed There is no hunt and there
is no kill.. Nothing left for our dog to do but eat out of a bowl. Now,
I myself have been a vegetarian for almost 30 years, at age 8, I decided i did
not like the taste of meat and never ate it again. I
know however that My dog is not a vegetarian or omnivore like most vets would
like me to believe.. no my dog is a carnivore and needs meat. My job as pack
leader is to provide my pack with the best food i can. So I provide my dog
Annie with Raw meat and bone.. yes RAW.. I dont cook her meat and bone...
i give it to her raw just like if she was still in the wild she would do. Annie
LOVES her RMB.. I throw it on the grass for her and she gets stuck in straight
away. She picks up the raw meaty bones and moves it to the back of her of
jaw and starts chewing.. Her whole jaw, shoulders and body get a workout.. Her
natural bodily chemicals get to work in preparation for digestion, I can see "happy"
endorphins being released through her whole body as she does what nature intended
her to do.. Chew meat and bone together!! I can hear her pleasure when she
her teeth crack through the bones.. She is getting the best teeth clean she will
ever have, ripping and tearing meat off the bone is what keeps a dogs mouth free
from bacterial rot. Now
Annie had been in Kennels for almost four years being fed on a really rubbish
diet of dried complete greyhound mix.. Annie had the most dreadful mouth
rot at age four.. her teeth were yellow and tartar stained, her gums inflamed
and sore and she would dribble when she ate as she couldn't chew properly. He
poo was a bright yellow colour and came out runny. She had bad breath, bad guts
and bad mouth. She
also came to me with severe aggression problems.. no wonder with all that going
on.. she was crying out for help.. I
put her on the raw meaty bones diet and you have to see the video for your self
to believe it.. She is a completely different dog today.. No more aggression at
all.. her poo is thick and solid and goes white in the sun, her coat is gleaming
and her eyes sparkle, and most of all her mouth rot is completely gone.. no more
bad breath or sore inflamed gums.. her teeth are white and gleaming.. amazing
and all from a bit of simple meat on the bone! Wild
animals do not need dentists in the wild for this very reason.. They don't have
sugar either! So Bones.. Bones are needed in a dogs diet for digestion of
the meat and all the nutrient in the bones, Can someone tell me.. where is
the marrow bone in these so called Complete foods we see in cans and sacks? They
have NO bone content at all! Do
you remember white dog poo 30 years or so ago? Well that is digested bone, that
what healthy dog poo looks like. 30
years ago we were feeding our dogs more scraps off our plate, more meat and bone
from the butchers.. 30 years ago.. vets were not as busy as they are today
and did not charge as much... and 30 years ago who had heard of dog behaviorist..
Dog trainers yes.. Dog psychologists No! 30 years ago i wouldn't have enough
clients to make this a full time business.. Today i do and i totally believe its
starts with the diets we are feeding our dog. Its
my mission to educate as many dog owners to just read the labels on their dogs
food and do some research of their own to find out what the hell is in this so
called food. I
have had an amazing amount of clients swap to RMB and see a total change in their
dogs health and behaviour! Purina
who make Bakers Complete are a sister company of Nestle Rowntree who are one of
the largest sugar manufactures in the world. Purina contacted me a few weeks
ago to ask if i would endorse their products in my consultations and on my website.
In return they were going to give me a years worth of feed for Annie my dog..
I told
them in no uncertain terms that i would ever endorse their products and that,
I infact warned my clients of the dangers of feeding them their rubbish. I
explained to them, how I had only just got Annie back to a full state of health
and there was no way i was going to risk her health or teeth by letting her eat
a years worth of their food.. So
after reading my blog today.. i have 2 questions for you? Are
you going to continue to put sugar, wheat, gluten, EC preservatives and colours
into your dogs body or are you going to go back to what nature intended our animals
to eat? Raw meat on the bone? Go
and chat to your local butcher and ask him to save the chicken carcasses he would
normally throw away.. Put him back in business, Change
your shopping habits when in these big supermarket stores.. Forget the pet
food aisle.. I have checked already, there is not one make of pet food there that
is completely natural, all the products contain some sort of colour preservative
or sugar! go done the meat section instead and fill up on raw meat and bone
instead, Check out the reduced section for some bargains on meats.. Your
dog will love you forever if you provide the right kind of food.. think about
it.. If
your dog could actually ask you for what it wanted to eat what do you think he
would ask for?? And
don't think about cost of meat, its far cheaper in the long run.. You buy
the best you can to watch, you buy the best clothes you can wear, your dine in
the best restaurants you can so why not feed your dog the best you can! Its
what being a Great Pack leader is all about. posted

21 yr old dog beats nose cancer!!
 Life
is full of surprises and full of miracles.
This story is of a miracle
dog called Benjie.
Every once in a life time we come across a story
of a person or animals that has shown some sort of miracle.
Out
of all the dogs I have had the pleasure in meeting and working with over the years,
Benjie has a very special place in my heart. You
see, Benjie is 21 years old.. That is a miracle in its self.. that's almost 147
years old in human terms. The biggest miracle though is that Benjie was diagnosed
with nose cancer 1 year ago and given maybe a few weeks left to live. 1
Year on and he is still going strongâ?¦ still living life to the full and not
giving up just yet. Benjie's
owner is a lovely lady who has just turned 40.. Benjie as been by her side every
day for the last 20 years and you can see the friendship they share. They can
read each others minds and just love each other unconditionally. Benjie's
owner was mortified and completely devastated when she was told the news by her
vet that Benjie had nose cancer and may not have long left to live. Not
knowing where to turn she searched the internet to find some sort of help and
came across Canine Angel contacted me straight away. I
went to visit immediately, I could sense her anxiety and worry about her best
friend. When
i first met Benjie, I could sense his fight wasn't over yet.. He is of strong
character and I thought if you have come this far and survived planet earth for
so long.. You won't let a bit of cancer bother you too much now. Benjie
is one of those independent dogs that likes to do is own thing and not be fussed
about too much.. I
was told that he didn't like to be fussed or touched by strangers but that day
Benjie knew was there to help and came over and put his nose into my hand and
asked me to help.. It was quite an emotional moment and Benjie's owner shed some
tears. I
gave Benjie healing that day and continue on a weekly basis to send him loving
energy and thoughts. We put him on a bio resonance formula from my good friend
who is a natural and homeopathic vet. We changed his diet to one of totally organic
fresh meat and veg. We put him on herbal products and surrounded him with crystals
healing and love. I
get regular updates from his owner to tell me how he is doing and he is now on
his fifth batch of remedies. I went to visit him last week and give him more
healing. I looked at this dog and thought what a miracle you are. He
asked me to tell his story to the world and tell everyone that love, healing and
natural medicines are what this world needs more of. His
owner did not want to put him the harsh treatment of chemical drug therapy for
the cancer because at his age, his body wouldn't have liked it. Whilst
radiotherapy is good treatment for some cancers, others can be treated naturally.
There are alternative ways to support our dog and its health when these life threatening
illness come knocking at the door. This
blog is dedication to the work I do and it's my pleasure to see it working so
well with the help of one miracle dog called Benjie. May
Benjie go on to live more of life and let his owner share more happy days with
him. It
may be one of the saddest days of my working career the day he does have to say
good bye to this world but he sure has taught me well and he has been a very important
part of my life and the work that i do. Benjie's
love just melts your heart. So
please leave your dedication, love , healing and support to Benjie and spread
the word that there is a miracle happening right now this very minute. All
that is left for me to say is "I
love you Benjie. Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher and friend. And
whenever your time does come to part this world, we shall be thinking of you and
wishing you well on the next stage of your journey. May you live many more happy
days here though. " Nikki

7 December 2009So what causes aggression in dogs?

Most
of the cases I am called out to see involve some type of aggression, whether that
be the dog attacking another dog or it owner or It becoming aggressive over its
toys or food. Some dogs have learnt fear based aggression like my Annie,
She came to me with fear based aggression problems. She had been re homed twice
for biting her new owners. On observing Annie it was clear to me that she
needed some rules limitation and boundaries setting, She needed to know her place
in the pack and learn what was acceptable behaviour in my pack and what wasn't. When
she arrived in my home I gave her no affection at all.. I ignored her as much
as possible and let her sniff her new territory out. I gave her own place that
she could feel safe in and that only I as the alpha could enter. The first
time I gave her a bone she took it to her bed and started chomping on, it, I wanted
to see if she had any food based aggression which is a sign that she believed
she was the alpha. She growled and bared her teeth at me so I pinned her down
with the alpha bite and projected my calm but assertive energy that I was the
alpha and wanted her bone. She soon gave it up to me. Since that day I can take
her food from her at any time. She knows who is boss now. I
have taught her that it is not acceptable to bite my human friends and I did that
by remaining calm when she did bite them. I sent her away with a firm but calm
shush and gave her no eye contact. She has now learnt to give a warning to
anyone that enters her space with out invitation. We had to bear in mind that
something in her past made her feel fearful. I have removed her fear by showing
that I amt he leader and that I am looking after her. She has no need to feel
she has to protect her self or me. Dogs bite fear or negativity. In the wild
the dog will hunt out and attack and kill the weakest of the herd. The one that
shows the most weakness and fear will be killed. This is mother nature and natural
selection. If a dog senses your negativity or fear then it is more likely to attack
you than someone that shows calm assertive energy. A dog will bite to communicate
to us that something is wrong or out of balance and that something needs to change.. A
dog that is aggressive is frustrated, it might not be getting enough exercise
or might even be on the wrong diet. This I will cover in more detail later. A
dog that becomes aggressive ultamatley thinks it is the leader and can often be
stressed and uncap bale of the title you have given it. There are many types
of aggression from territorial, to fear based to leadership aggression. Many
of the aggressive dogs I see have been treated aggressively in the past. Most
human respond to dog aggression by shouting, hitting or smacking the dog. Many
people think this is the way to discipline their dog. This is the worse thing
you can do as aggression only breeds more aggression. If your dog is aggressive
and you then lash out and hit it then you are showing no control and no leadership
status. You are not being calm and assertive. Your are being negative and aggressive.
Your dog will only learn from you that aggression is the way forwards in his pack
environment. You must teach him that aggression is not welcome behaviour
in your pack. I have never shouted or hit Annie once.. I have shown her that the
best way forward to is to keep calm and in control. After three months she has
learnt this very well. I notice her warning sign if she is to bite and I
step in with a shush and take control, I take the job off her and show her its
ok there is nothing to feel afraid of. What makes a dog aggressive? Aggression
in dogs can be caused by the following things Food. many of today's cheaper
pet foods contain a large numbers sugars and preservatives, e numbers and colours.
This is not for the benefit for the dog but to make it more appealing to the human
eye. Also preservatives are added to prolong the shelf life of the product so
they manufactures can make more sales and more profit. These ingredients
are not found in food that the dog in the wild eats. Its chooses its prey kills
its prey and then eats all the bits of the prey that it knows is good for it.
Dogs eats a combination of marrow bone, meat and organs, some skin or Hyde and
earth or soil that the kill is covered in. Most of all they eat raw meat and bone.
They do not cook their food in the wild and nor should we cook it for them at
home. A dog in today's society still has the same internal workings of that
of its wild ancestors. They have not developed to eat and digest such high in
protein and sugar foods. If a dog feels bad on his diet he has no way to
tell you other than to perhaps get aggressive. I have seen many dogs change
their diets along with a behaviour modification programme and turn from little
devils into angels. A dog may be in pain and become aggressive there for
it is imperative to have our dog checked over by the vet and a chiropractor or
massage therapist to see if the body is unbalanced in any way. Most cases
I see of dog aggression though is due to the fact the dog has taken on the leader
of the pack role and is not coping with the job. They only do this as they know
they have to have a leader to survive and if you are not doing a good job then
they will challenge and take over. The alpha dogs in any pack will only become
aggressive to the other dogs when something is wrong within the pack or when a
subordinate dog tries to take the alpha position. This is most likely what
is happening when a dog becomes aggressive towards you especially when it is over
food or toys. When a dog become aggressive with other people or dogs it is
because he is believing that he is there to protect you and the pack. Dogs pick
up on energy vibes of us or other dogs or strangers and can take a dislike to
anyone with negative vibes. Notice how you feel when your dog gets aggressive. What
is your reaction when you dog gets aggressive? Do you shout at him to stop? When
you raise your voice your dog see this as you joining in too. It really does re-inforce
the behaviour. There are some incidents when you have to raise your voice, when
there is a serious emergency like your dog is being attacked by another.. but
if it is general aggression then a calm but assertive shush or Oh noise should
suffice As long as you use the same noise and tone every time you discipline
a dog then it will soon learn it is not to get aggressive. Take for instance,
when I took Annie to the vets, she was cornered in the room, became scared and
got aggressive when the vet came near her. I stayed calm and did the shush noise
and she calmed down, knowing that I am her leader and if I stay calm then she
has no reason to feel fear or afraid. If I had got worked up at that point
then she would have too. We took her into another room and the vets got one of
the nurses to take off her bandage and she remained nice and calm. So we
have to look at energy when a dog is being aggressive and work out where the imbalance
is coming from? Check to see how you are feeling when your dog gets aggressive.
Are you feeling nervous or afraid about something? Are you feeling angry about
something? Chances are you are and when your dog shows aggression it is to communicate
something is wrong. We need to observer what is going on in its environment. We
need to make sure the dog does not think it is the pack leader and is trying to
defend its pack. As I say that is not its job. For those dog owners who buy
an aggressive breed to look after their house and family they are indeed putting
that dog under a lot of stress. A dog is no more intelligent than a 2 year
old child and we would never put our 2 year child out in front and make it protect
us. This is where most people go wrong.
